Der Rest is a music project formed Phillip Taraz, moviemaker and musician, along with three other musicians.

The album starts out slow, German vocals accompanied by piano. The album reminds of a theater play where the narrator is telling a story with a melody being played in the background and these two elements sort of going along with each other yet somehow not completely. Mainly the album is soft and mellow. “Aus Dem Fenster Gelehnt” is a little faster. The lyrics are deep, almost depressingly sad. “Tief” starts out with a sound you would hear in a chill out lounge. Some medieval elements are also to be found throughout some songs. Der Rest and the album “Der Tisch Ist Gedeckt” is a very interesting album, different from everything I have heard before. This album is a very artistic release. The focus seems to be more on art itself than on the music. A screenplay and soundtrack for the dark and sad hours in life, served to the listeners. “Der Tisch Ist Gedeckt” by Der Rest is definitely an interesting album with its ten tracks.
