The Blackout Argument is coming from Germany and currently they are releasing their album “Detention”. It is the band’s second release.
Hardcore fanatics be warned, besides that these guys take the hardcore upfront they also include a big dose of melodic elements. Not too brutal, which sometimes makes feel like the guys wanted to have a commercial side to their sound. The guys have done fourteen songs for this release. These songs are quite variable in quality. Sometimes it seems there are quite simplistic riffs in there, but on other moments you see a more innovative side of them. It’s a pity that it overall appears to be unstable, as they surely come with potential hit songs. It may also be a point that within the production a lot of the aggression seem to be polished off. Those vocals could have been more upfront, maybe it would have given it that extra touch that makes them convince you of their causes which is lacking now.
The band seems trying, sometimes puzzling on how they could present themselves best, but the total outcome of this album turned out to be a messy picture. Too much going on without a structure and this while they seem to have the skills as found in several parts. If only things fall into place a bit better, the next album will be more impressive.
