Sideblast is a formation coming from France. The make Extreme Metal, a blend between Death, Black and Thrash, and have been around since 2004. Their debut album came out in 2008 and now their second album “Cocoon” sees light.
Interesting rhythms, a lot of passion and a good mix is what makes this album standing out in the first place. Quite soon after you hear it for the first time you’ll be surprised by the way this band makes use of their guitars. Raging, sniping, fast but very solid of their direction these guys have made a self conscience sound. And it comes with charisma, you believe every word said, everything. The technical side of the band shows we have to deal with some experienced musicians and it comes out well. The atmospheric add of the keyboard was not even necessary in here, but it is not misplaced either. Highlights on this album are “Discordant Symphony” and the somehow lighter “The Fall”.
That this band made such a surprising release is definitely a refreshing. For sure the band will be growing substantially after this and hopefully they hit the roads with it. Cyclone Empire has a great band on its roster with Sideblast.
