Puteraeon – The Esoteric Order

Releasedate: 28-01-2011; Label: Cyclone Empire
By: Sabine van Gameren

The Swedish band Puteraeon is trusted for making some old school Death Metal. Though, the band has been formed in 2008. Their career seems relatively short. A few demo’s have been made, they found a new guitarist and anno 2011 the band comes with their debut album “The Esoteric Order”.

The band does not spare anyone, their sound is filthy, raw and aggressive. When they talk about old school, they take it all the way. And when they speak about Death Metal, be prepared this is as death as it can get. Obviously they don’t bring anything new, but their specialism lays in the brutality that starts with some basic drums, don’t expect too much creativity from there, but then gets based by the fury if guitars and bass which creates a rather thick sound for what the expectation may have been. Vocals are deep and maybe a bit too much tossed into the background, a sharper production would have given some extra stress to it, a slight miss in this album. Furthermore “The Esoteric Order” is a decent release and can be bought without hesitating if you are into the old school Death Metal. No bullshit, just metal.
