Death Metal formation Saeculum Obscurum comes from Germany. The band formed in 2007 and after the release of an EP in 2009 the band now comes with their debut full length album “Into The Depths of Oblivion”.
After the release of their EP the band have decided to get rid of the melodic side of them and make the music a bit more aggressive. And violence it brings. Two guitarist in battle modus, blast beat heating up the temperatures, hatred, rising tensions. Although the Melodic side have been put down, there is still that background within their sound that points into that direction. Catamenia is what they reminded me to, though these guys have a harder edge, making their sound more serious, rather than letting the humor take over. The band has a good production over the album, not too polished but not too raw either. As a downside on this album you van mention the chaos, or better said unlogical of it. The songs does not really seem very connected with each other and that causes that you often wonder where they want to go to with their purpose. Perhaps some more listening will solve the puzzle, it is not love at first sight when it comes to that.
