Sons Of Tonatiuh are a Sludge/Doom Metal band from USA. The band formed in 2008 and in 2011 the band released this debut album.
This American band have found themselves comfortable to go shopping into different genres and take something of it to make their own. At first, you would not always hear that the band throws in some other genres as well, but eventually, after listening carefully, you hear that there is some late 90’s metal in it, blended with some punk. But however this might bring you to thought it speeds it all way up, there is the Doom to keep the tempo low.
Downtuned guitars play a major part within their sound, they create the atmosphere that they are bringing but they have the drums as an accelerator for it. It is inevitable to have these to working together as maniacs within the sludge and putting back the vocals from the main attraction. So after all, it may not obtain that, whatever the band is doing steps a bit aside of what is so confidential, yet Sons of Tonatiuh has always remained a line to it. With one leg into familiarity and the other in the unknown, they have brought an exciting album that can demand some intensive listening from purists.
