Quintessence Mystica is a band from Ukraine. They are relatively young, being formed in 2008, but straight from the start they decided to work on their debut album “The 5th Harmonic of Death”.
Quite some instrumental pleasure can be found. Some calm, symphonical music to leave you up with a confidential feel good feeling, but unfortunately it often comes with horrendous transitions to the Metal side. There is Black Metal, but some other elements are included as well. It has a chaotic feeling over it. Sometimes there is an overkill on different things. Violin that needed to be included, some piano, it doesn’t match everywhere. It has a great add to the atmosphere, but it breaks straight away when you figure out it is placed without having too much thoughts on it. Perhaps it would have suited the band better to work on it a little longer. Nevertheless, the band has plenty of interesting things, but as soon as they know how to make the puzzle and everything falls into the right place, we’ll find how gorgeous the outcome will be. This very first release is showing a band on the grow, just experimenting in their way to perfection but is still a bit lost.
