The Dutch Metal core band As Enemies Arise have been quite active the past years. Founded in 2008 they got themselves a name with the various concerts they played throughout their home country.
That the band has some ambitions is clear, the album “Chapter” justifies these ambitions are actually realistic. The band have made an album the Dutch can be proud on. They have perfectly translated all the live experience within their sound, making passionate statements with it, capturing you with directness. What speaks for this band is that they have found a way to make themselves slightly unique compared to the other bands of this genre that come in. They have the technical parts that shows the skills of each individual, but remained to be a group as a total. There is no ego battle going on and bring a balanced sound.
Within the track list the guys come in with enough variation, something that speaks for them as well. Though, personally the track list goes on a shuffle to create a different order. On “Chapter” it may take a bit too long to get to the climax, but that does not mean you can’t enjoy the ride to it.
A strong release from As Enemies Arise, Metal core fans have a good start of the year with it.
