Hi Horse is a Finnish rock band. After playing live a couple of years, the band has now their debut full length album “Concrete Clouds” out.
A Helsinki based trio making relaxed feel good rock. But who had expected to hear French on this release? “Ma Chanson” brings a bit of it though. It is the band’s first single. It gives a little extra, kind of a need for it was there as the songs are pretty much in one line. The band uses both male and female vocals which seem to match quite well, though there never really comes an outburst in which you hear something really exciting. It’s like they played it safe which does not make them showcase their vocal talents fully. But there is also the melodic guitars which makes it all a bit mellow and easy to listen to. The Finns do not only take the sweet things of live as inspiration. Songs that stood out slightly are “Devil in Disguise” and “The Evil” for the fact that it goes a bit up in tension.
“Concrete Clouds” is a nice album, perfect for in your car or on a Sunday afternoon. Im convinced the band can give a lot more than what they gave at “Concrete Clouds” but until that comes out, listening to this one is no punishment either.
