Sin7Sins – Perversion Ltd.

Releasedate: 22-10-2010; Label: Massacre Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

Sin7Sins is a Dutch band. They make Gothic rock with a pop edge on it. “Perversion Ltd.” is their new release.

You can like it or hate it, but it is a fact that such poppy vocals in a metal environment are not always a winner. There is a stereotype and Sin7Sins fits into that as if it was created for them. Higher tempo, vocals on dominance, the keys it’s there and they could probably stand in line with acts as the Swedish All Ends. Some of the songs seem to be heard before, but that might also be because the band is not the most original one. It ain’t the worst either. Male vocals here and there come out well and when vocalist Lotus shuts up there is a decent instrumental foundation in the music. Too bad that you don’t hear more of this. A bit stress on the balance next time would probably result in an album that gives more space to versatility. The biggest strength of acts like these is probably the fact that with this poppy side they are easy to market and might grow into some commercial act sooner than thought. For that cause, “Perversion Ltd” is a good album, but for those who prefer less sugar in their metal this album is one to avoid.
