Building Instrument is a trio from Norway that makes experimental music. They released their brand new album “Mangelen Min” recently. It is available now.
The band certainly does not take the easiest way, as soon as the album starts you are getting a complex mix with influences, experiments and uncommon compositions. It is that kind of album that you either like or hate. To be up straight: we fall into that last category.
Why? Well first of all none of the songs on the album seem to be in line with eachother. It is chaos, feels like just random pieces that popped up somewhen pasted together.
Then, these vocals are going into a Björk direction, but just miss the refinement that the Icelandic lady has. On other parts the vocals are different, but not really connected with the rest. It does not flow easily.
From all the experimental albums we received, drone doom-ish, to electro-indie-space or wherever we learned that it can be fun to see when a bit of randomness and playfulness is introduced in the music, but Building Instrument did not really hit the spot. Too bad.
