[schema type=”review” name=”Broken Ego – Avenue To Wonderland” description=”Label: Echozone” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2018-12-15″ ]Pop formation Broken Ego has been quiet for a while but now return with new music. The band made some more Gothic music before but now aims more Pop/Indie. “Avenue To Wonderland” is out now.
Lovely collections of pop rock music are often an easy win, but melody is key and the whole needs to be brought as a complete picture, in which many bands keep failing. Broken Ego has it though. The catchiness, not going too deep with the lyrics but have quite sing-along lyrics. The music is danceable and will light up any club. They are not completely fearing a darker thought here and there, but most of all this album is a feel-good, positive energy atmosphere that has all potential to reach a lot of (young) fans.
The only thing that is lacking is that monster hit that reaches charts in several countries. The album has some good songs with potential, but that breaker is not there yet. But that being said, they have just re-invented themselves. Let’s give them some more time to grow and perhaps on a next release that killer track is there as well. For now they are giving us an absolute fine release that listens easy and light, catchy enough to singalong a thousand of times.
