Inkvisitor – Dark Arts of Sanguine Rituals

[schema type=”review” name=”Inkvisitor – Dark Arts of Sanguine Rituals” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2018-04-20″ ]Finnish Thrash formation Inkvisitor formed in 2012. After some line up chances the band recorded a new album, which is available now. It is called of “Dark Arts of Sanguine Rituals”.

The band is clear about their choice of production, it’s a mix of the past and the options we have nowadays. A smart move because it helps formingan image of what the band is about, their own shape rather than reliving the past.
The band shows to have a different view on what Thrash means to them anyway, the band included a concept in the album,a story about a murder. This is all being translated into a vicious sound, good pace in there and with enough interesting riffs to keep you listening for that alone as well. The band dares to innovate here and there but does not stray from traditional Thrash sound too far that fans of the genre will look the other way. One of the most interesting tracks is “Necromancy Cascade” which is so relevant there for the story in the album, but stands on it’s own as well. Even though this is a somewhat slower song it seems suiting for a live set, building towards a climax.

Altogether we can say that Inkvisitor surprised us. It is a different band from that 2015 release we listened and the confident way this release is built suits us. A fine release that we will keep in mind and will roam the scene and hopefully bring the guys much good.
