Dutch Indie Rock band Meadowlake is releasing their debutalbum. It is selftitled and is available now.
At the base of Meadowlake you ll find five guys having a friendship that strengthens the whole, something you learn from track one. “Go” is a track that seems a logic opening for the release but it leads to a more questionable “Deadman On The Payroll”. After this the album gives you two of the band’s singles so the energy is in it and these are certainly the most speaking tracks of the album. Catchiness is there, but the words are doing their work as well. Rightly chosen, right timing with atmospherical surrounding, simply works. Personally, I would have hoped they would go even deeper, but that’s no surprise when an Indie album comes to a Metalhead.
A dark tone is found in their album and it helps putting all in perspective. They break the album a bit by song called “War” but after that we have two more tracks that are in line with what we heard before.
Listening this album, you can imagine the band would do great in sultry barnight. The stage, a thick crowd on a sunny evening. Sure, this release does encourage you to see this live. Let’s see when they are around, right?!
