James Bay is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist. In 2014, he released his single “Hold Back the River”, which has been certified platinum, before releasing his debut studio album “Chaos and the Calm” (2015). The album went to number one in the UK and number 15 in the US. In February 2015, James Bay received the Brit Awards “Critics’ Choice” award. At the 2016 Brit Awards he received the award for Best British Male Solo Artist. Bay also received three nominations at the 2016 Grammy Awards, for Best New Artist, Best Rock Album, and Best Rock Song. Now he released his second studio album “Electric Light”.
The album comes with fourteen tracks. After a short intro, the catchy music sets in. The songs on this album are different from the ones we know from James Bay’s debut album. You can hear that he is not only grown but he is also experimenting on “Electric Light”. Different tunes, paces and moods come at you while listening. The album is very interesting and will keep your attention. until the end. Each chorus has potential to get stuck in your head and surely every rhythm will get you going along, on its very own way. “Wasted On Each Other” is quite fast and danceable while “Us” is more a deep song with a wide sound which is partially caused by the Gospel Choir in the background. And this is only the sound of two songs. Each one is a masterpiece of its own kind, carrying its own spirit and soul.
“Electric Light” its a brilliant album by a brilliant musician. James Bay has yet again released an album you will not be able to stop listening to. So get your copy, put on the headphones and press play. I promise, you will love it. I surely can’t stop listening.
