Nibiru – Netrayoni

[schema type=”review” name=”Nibiru – Netrayoni ” description=”Label: Argonauta Records” author=”Miguel Melo” pubdate=”2018-05-25″ ]This is a remastered album from an original release from 2014, with one more song, Carma Geta, closing the album. The release date is set for 05/25/2018. As far as a new listener is concerned, it sounds ok.

This is another sludge/doom band from Italy. They have come to provide a trip to the realms of psychedelic and submarine music. Interesting enough, the band name, Nibiru, relates to a fictional space collision that should bring the apocalypse to the planet earth. Maybe not that powerful as that, but it’s a good start. This double album takes the listeners to the proper sludge & doom environment and it’s enjoyable despite the length.

First song is a long intro and gets you to the feel the disappearance of this world, a star cataclysm maybe. Interesting to get an insinstance of ritual sludge, wondering what do you have to do to proceed correctly. There might be some grounds to dive there and think about things you didn’t really expect, as in psychedelic journeys. The sound mechanism behind instruments and voices seem to do their work. You will hear quotes from Shakespeare’s play Julius Caesar and hear cries for Satan as well. At least you get entertained if you listen to the lyrics with attention.

Important to say that with tracks around 17 minutes you really require a lot of focus to get the probable words mentioned by the dusky voices. Most likely I have missed many details, but this is clearly an album that grows on you the more you listen to it. Personal favorite so far is Sekhmet, with a drum work in the right moment. That got my attention.
All in all, I think it was a good idea to give back to the world the remaster version of a good sludge album. Wonder what’s next.
