The Swedish band Outshine released an album called “1313” recently.
So the album is based on bad luck, 13 is not a number that scares everyone but everyone knows about the doom of Friday 13th. So that this album is dark may not come as a surprise to all. Life is an inspiration to many and this can’t be ignored.
“They Were Too Young” is one that stood out right away the first time it passed by. It’s not hiding anything, straightforward it tells you that story. It is perhaps the one that let’s you listen to the others with greater care. And having it a few spins further you feel the pain and agony that is within so clearly, so vivid.
Besides the words the band also knows how to back it up instrumentally. The whole comes together nicely, having spotlight for the whole band and strengthen eachother in the process.
The band deserves a great applause for making something so negative into an album that speaks so well for itself. Hopefully the guys get to promote it well, the music will address a wide range of audience. “1313” is a fine release that works well on all fronts.
