Jeffree Star (born Jeffrey Lynn Steininger, November 15, 1985), is an American model, fashion designer, make-up artist, DJ, and singer-songwriter residing in the Los Angeles area. He is an Internet celebrity known for his popularity on MySpace as well as his fashion line and from his transgressive and gender-bending appearance and persona while calling himself “Queen of the Internet” and “Queen of the Beautifuls”. Star has leveraged his fame as an androgynous model and aesthetic talents to launch his own clothing line and forays into acting and DJing.
I know, “Beauty Killer” by Jeffree Star has been out a while already now, but he just released his new video to “Get Away With Murder” which caught my attention again. I have to admit, I have been following Jeffree since the beginning but never dared to get close to it. Unsure why, I was watching it all from a distance. Until now! And besides that, he is an amazing artist that I just think is worth being mentioned. People either hate Jeffree or love him. I, myself am simply astonished. I mean look at him: Gorgeous make-up and hair, amazing looking on pictures, awesome and self secure in high heels, and he made it: His own clothing line, own label, famous DJ and musician with a huge fan base all over the world. Whether you love Jeffree Star or hate him, one thing you have to admit: He made it, and he is a genius the way he’s doing it! But enough about that, let me tell you about “Beauty Killer”:
The music is electro dance music, perfect for the clubs, not only in West-Hollywood. Catchy the beat just drags you along on the dance floor and makes you dance. “Beauty Killer” is taking full control over you and you can’t resist. In an instant you will catch yourself singing along to the lyrics that are worth to be thought about and listen closely. Jeffree is basically singing about his life and the life in Hollywood, life as a celebrity and fashion / public victim. Deep and personal, sometimes even scary, songs that many people might be able to relate to. Just like it is common in the glamorous world of celebrities the hurting truth is wrapped up in perfection of glamour, fashion and trends. Almost hidden so nobody can see how ugly the truth really is. Only if you stop for a second and take a close look (in this case a close listen) you will see it and be shocked. Jeffree Star and “Beauty Killer”, check it out and decide for yourself if you will like it or not. One thing is sure: Jeffree is a Beauty Killer and a Star.
