The band Among The Weeds began as a solo project of the founder, Rose Z. Vine, when she ended up bored and isolated in a small town in 2005 with no band and a limited amount of gear. It went through many different phases but the introduction of Mike “Moose” Best from the band Alaska Highway at the end of 2006 after her return to Los Angeles was the most notable one. After creating its own sound, this is now their brand new album which is called “This Is No Fairytale”.
The album comes with eleven songs. The deluxe version of the album has an additional five remix tracks. The music on the album wanders between gothic rock and synth pop. The vocals are mainly fading into the background along with the melodies. Only the rhythm seems to be up front, trying to catch your attention. The arrangements of the songs seem quite simple. So after listening to the album for a few times, you know the songs and melodies by heart. The lyrics are telling stories that are illustrated by the music.
“This Is No Fairytale” is a dark album that will not brighten your day while listening, but instead will cause your mind to wander. So all you gothic fans out there: This brand new album “This Is No Fairytale” by Among The Weeds is the right album for you. Go check it out now.
