[schema type=”review” name=”Cunning Mantrap – Hazmat” description=”Label: Fastball Music” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2016-10-09″ ]German Hard Rock trio Cunning Mantrap is quite a young formation. Theband formed in 2013 and in 2014 they came with a full length album already. Two years later another album is ready for release. ” Hazmat” is out now.
Comparing this album to its predecessor, the guys have taken on a wider view on where to draw from. It is not just the straightforward sound they had, but they dug deeper this time and all for the best. It seems like the guys have more to offer from themselves this time, making it a tad bit more original.
With the catchiness still embraced in their sound, the guys still have an album that is easy to listen to and the album opens with the single “Red” which gives you a good introduction to the album. Starting with a single is always risky as the vibe is a bit different in other songs often which is the case here as well, but they keep your attention by giving you some interesting riffs here and there, showing they have thought everything right through.
“Hazmat” shows that the band has grown since their last one and that they took their time to find themselves and put it all together. A well-thought release that you’ll enjoy throughout.
