Tarja, is a Finnish singer-songwriter. She is a soprano and has a vocal range of three octaves. She is well known as a professional classical singer but best known as the former lead vocalist of the Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, which she founded with Tuomas Holopainen and Emppu Vuorinen in 1996. She started her solo career in 2006 with the release of a Christmas album and in 2007 her first solo metal album “My Winter Storm”. Now she has a new album in the pipeline. To not let her fans wait too long, she released a prequel EP before the actual album: “The Brightest Void”.

The prequel EP comes with nine songs. “The Brightest Void” includes the first single release of the upcoming album “The Shadow Self”. All other songs on the EP are not on the album, but they do give you a good idea of what the fifth album of Tarja will sound like. “The Brightest Void” includes Michael Monroe as guest vocalist and Chad Smith as a guest musician. The EP also includes a Within Temptation song which is featured by Tarja. Each song is emotional and tells a story. It is an amazing release to listen to.
