PUP is a Canadian punk rock band formed in Toronto, Ontario in 2013, originally under the name Topanga. They almost didn’t have a follow-up to 2014’s extremely excellent self-titled debut. Not long after they began working on their sophomore effort, Stefan Babcock discovered he had a hemorrhaging cyst on his vocal chords. His doctor put it in unequivocal terms: “The dream is over,” she told the budding rock star. Well, neither Babcock nor his Toronto bandmates took her diagnosis to heart, instead going forth with their second album and dubbing it, fittingly, “The Dream is Over”.
The album comes with ten songs. Strong punk rock music comes at you when pressing play. You can hear the despair and defiance in the music. Passionate and energetic, the guys perform their music. Rocking their hearts out. As if it was for the last time. Because you never know. Loud and intense, “The Dream Is Over” is shaking you awake. Pointing at it with the finger. For thirty minutes straight. Shouting and yelling it out loud. Pulling you along.
The brand new album by PUP is impressive. And intense. Ten songs filled with passion, energy and volume, will blow your mind. So go ahead and check it out.
