Human Zoo is a German Hard Rock band that formed in 2004. A debut came out in 2004 and anno 2016 it is already time for album number four. “My Own God” is out now.
At first it looks like it will take a while before you find what sets Human Zoo apart from the rest. The music seems quite generic, much like the many others of the genre. Themselves they claim that their saxophone addition brings a unique factor, maybe it would but it is not overly present at all so this is not really something that comes out as a that thing that gives them something of their own. We do like the fact that it is there but the way it is used is quite subtle.
The album starts with “One Direction” a song that has lyrics that repeat themselves just a bit too many times. But it is to be said that after that we get to hear more quality, because although we say it is not really something unique the band does bring a good quality. The vocals are steady and with some good riffs the album is pleasant to listen to.
“My Own God” is not shocking your world too much if you are into the genre, but the band has good qualities on board and therefore it would make a fine addition to your collection anyway.
