Dissector – Grey Anguish / Pride & Hate

They have been active from 1992 to 2002 when the band members split and played in various other bands. Ten years later the band released a new album though, an anniversary project. After that a whole lot of new songs were written and that resulted in the release of the full length “Grey Anguish” and the EP “Pride & Hate” which are introduced to us now.

“Grey Anguish” is a release that caters well to the fans of Melodic Death. Plenty of catchy riffs and that in combination with the vocalstyles they use, clean with that raw edge onto it, they come close to what acts like Before The Dawn made successful. Best thing in this is that the band gives themselves a strong identity and they seem to bring us a solid package that is well thought. Vehemence never leaves you, the tempo is there and they take elements from different genres to enrich their sound.

The “Pride & Hate” EP contains a collection of some new tracks as well as remixes and featurings. It shows an alternative side of the band. Some mixes are quite industrial, some instrumental touch and there is “Paradise” which is a featuring with vocalist Ann.Dust. Interesting mix that at first seem quite a random collection together but when listening carefully form a release with the red thread of the band in it. Interesting to see what ways you can go with their music.

After twenty years the band is still going on, they have given us these two releases from last year and the band is speaking of a new album in 2016 also. So more is ahead and we surely don’t mind. The band has it together, a well thought sound with good quality like this is always welcome.
