Banquet is an American Rock and Roll formation. They are currently releasing their album “Jupiter Rose”.
The Americans have a bit of a 70’s feel over it, Heavy with that Stoner edge. The album we get fromt hem is really not bringing you anything you have not heard before. They love clichés. Whether they go into depth with a song or look more at the generic way of writing, it feels all like you have heard it before, and you probably have. Recognizable is not always a problem but it is when you try to find that one thing that gives the band its face and identity, something of their own, and then it turns out it is not really there.
The album is not unpleasant though. A groove brings in the mood, it is laid back listening to these guys. Taking up the tempo when they can and yet not going overboard. Within the seven tracks on the release there is not too much variation but you will make it through the album. It is 7 tracks, 33 minutes, but it should not have been longer if continued in the same vibe.
“Jupiter Rose” is an album showcasing a band that can play well, but sticks around a bit too much in what their influencers bring. We hoped for a breakout from it, something interesting but that did not came out. Too bad.
