Down Below is a German gothic rock band. Founded in 2003, the band gain national fame as they took part at the Bundesvision Song Contest, a German national version of the Eurovision song contest. Ever since then the band has released five studio album, this being their sixth full length studio album.

Going by the name of “Mutter Sturm”, the album comes with thirteen songs. All lyrics are in German. The entire album is about the ocean and seafaring. With beautiful analogies for some problems life brings along sometimes. With a low voice the singer leads you through the album. The rhythms are catchy and could also be mistaken as pop music. Only the dark and melancholic lyrics convince you that this album belongs to the gothic part of music. The catchy melodies will get you moving and maybe even humming along. Some songs light a candle in the dark, shed some light and hope. Lasting for about fifty minutes, this album is an impressive piece of art.

“Mutter Sturm” is an interesting album. Telling a story in chapters with each song, Down Below is taking you on the sea. Through storms and off shore, far far away. Get lost in the ocean with the German gothic band Down Below and listen to “Mutter Sturm” now.
