The Finnish Black Metal formation Horna is active since 1993. Through the years they released a long list of products. From splits and EP’s to full lengths. “Hengen Tulet” is full length album number nine coming out of their studio efforts.
Horna has a quite solid sound, regardless line-up changes you quite always know what to expect from these Finns. It’s Black and pure, it’s evil and nihilistic. Nothing different to that in this release. The band is giving a varied and uptempo release that leaves no time to go to waste to reconfirm their status in case you had put it out of your mind. With a raw edged vocalist on their hands the band puts some extra stress on that and takes you on the Black Metal ride. Take for example the song “Puhdas” it is full of rage and energetic passion. The song comes alive right by the intro, an organ playing. A song with diverse dynamics that basically summarize the whole album.
“Hengen Tulet” is not going to give you new side of Horna, but it is not really that needed anyway. Horna fans can safely take this one into their collection, it is exactly what the band stands for. A good Black Metal release that simply fulfils expectations.
