Varg – Rotkäppchen

[schema type=”review” name=”Varg – Rotkäppchen” description=”Label: Napalm Records” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2015-10-09″ ]

Varg is a German formation that started in 2005. The band has now four full lengths on their name and decided to release an EP this year. It is called “Rotkäppchen” and available right now.

It’s a strange one, this release by Varg. At first listen you probably aren’t really sure how serious you should take it, or how serious did they take it. What it is, well it is a release with eight tracks. The title track is to be found in different versions. Six, to be exact. The song originally released in 2011 but appearantly inspired the band in such a way to give themselves a go with it. One sounds more hilarious than the other. Which makes the original a bit flat even. As a little variation there are two other tracks on the album which makes that you are not too bored with that one song. Some different languages are to be found, but besides that it sounds like one big party it just does not really come up what the purpose of this release is.

It gives not much new under the sun. Nice for the fans, but probably not more than that. Maybe it would entertain a festival camping as well, the music is having a feel good party feeling but maybe even the fans might like new material a bit better.

Fenrier – Drums
