Entwine – Chaotic Nation

[schema type=”review” name=”Entwine – Chaotic Nation” description=”Label: Spinefarm Records” author=”Gamze Öyünc” pubdate=”2015-10-02″]

Entwine is one of the most fan-favorite Finnish rock bands out there, they especially have a big following all over Europe and South America. They released their new album Chaotic Nation which is the 7th album in their career.

It’s already been a long-awaited album for their fans, they announced a while ago that they will go for a change sound-wise and this album finally answers the expectations. The new sound is blasting and rocking with big choruses that are catchy as hell, the band seems to have gone away from their Gothic rock sound that is so characteristic of Finnish rock as a genre. By trying out this less melancholic-newly found modern rock sound, they nail it in the best possible way. The drummer of the band Aksu Hanttu produced this album, and with his production Entwine has pulled off very successfully this polished but larger-than-life fresh sound with catchy hooks.

The album kicks off with “End Of Silence”, this track symbolizes their breaking their silence and and having a comeback with a blast. Until “As We Arise” the album goes on being very uptempo and insanely melodic and also rocking at the same time. “As We Arise” sounds like a 30 Seconds To Mars song sadly, we hear so many examples of this track’s kind in modern rock that it sounds a bit unoriginal, but the rest of the album is so good that you forget about this one’s being a bit ordinary. The rest 9 songs in the album satisfy the Entwine audience and pass the test with flying colors. First single off the album “Plastic World” comes off with a poppy hook but has a blasting rock tune. It has an amazing music video directed by Ville Juurikkala that is just out on Oct. 2. The track ” Evil Lies In The Shadows” might please Panic At The Disco fans with the theatrics in the sound. My favorites off the album are “Revolt For Redemption”, and “Saint of Sorrow”. The first one has become one of my favorite songs ever from the Finnish scene, it gives out a quite intense feeling and is teemed with emotion. “Saint of Sorrow” is a great anthem with a grandeur refrain, you just can’t help singing along. The album has obviously good song-writing and it has some strong personal messages as we hear in “Lost, But Still Alive”. I must say I like this feeling of courageousness that the album gives across especially with the evergreat vocals that Mika Tauriainen delivers.

Chaotic Nation offers an updated breath of sound to rock fans. I say, definitely give it a listen to it if you’re searching to feel energized with an upbeat rock sound. Make sure you also catch one of their live gigs, they’re firstly touring the prominent cities in Finland.
