Brutally Deceased – Black Infernal Vortex

Releasedate: 30-05-2014; Label: Doomentia Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

Brutally Deceased is a band from Czech Repulic that formed in 2007. The Death Metal formation released their debut album in 2010 and is back this year to release the follow up on that called “Black Infernal Vortex”.

Well perhaps the name will tell you already… Brutality is a keyword for this band and one that will stick. The band has created a rich mix of the guitars, which have not only that hard vehemence edge but do not leave you without some melody either. In comes that steady drums, that sometimes is a bit more present than at other moments but never fails to demand some attention. The vocals are sometimes a bit unexpected. Variance rather than lack of consistency though.
If the band’s name is taken from the band Grave it is not really a surprise that a lot of those Grave elements can be found back into the release where the band is balancing on the line of having it made their own, or just copying it rather. Perhaps a little extra line on the Brutally Deceased side will harden their own identity, but overall the band remains safe.
“Black Infernal Vortex” is an album that has its strengths but could come out even stronger than it is now. Also a little more attention to the production could help to that. There is more in Brutally Deceased than we can hear right now.
