Peter Kernel is an Indie duo with their background in both Canada and Switzerland. When they joined forces they discovered a match and so the project was formed.
It is Indie Rock for those who have a great loving for the genre so to say. They say to have a clear story which is brought in a simplistic way. Not too many words, a simple beat without too many extra elements and repeat, repeat and repeat. This could work very well, many have proven that before but is that really the case here too?
Well, the vocals are a bit screechy. Not too stable and it feels a bit as if they have spent a tremendous amount of time to look for the right stereotype to fit in the genre. Here and there it lacks originality and perhaps they should have let their hearts speak a little louder rather than getting the straight A for fitting in.
Then perhaps the band could expand their instrumental experience. Less is more, but maybe a little less would be even more. Create that little catchy edge on it and a listener will be hooked much longer to this release than they would right now.
“Thrill Addict” is a release of a band that have not discovered themselves completely. They are still searching for what works for them and with some experimenting they may get there.
