Ereb Altor is a Swedish formation that formed in 2003. The band makes Viking Black Metal and have released four albums up to this date. “Fire Meets Ice”, their last one, is just out.
Viking Black Metal is covering it quite well. The deep, dark and depressive tones in the album would give a hint to some Doom as well. Not strange, knowing that the founders of this formation are known from Isole as well. Also, it is noticeable that the guys have put a lot of attention to the melodic parts. Those really drive you into their sound while when you are into it you get the brute awakening of some raw, gnarly vocals putting you back with that Black Metal feeling. If you are fan of a band like Moonspell you will find yourself comfortable listening to this sound as well. It has vehemence when needed and does not cease to set out a story for you.
Whatever sound suits you best to describe does not really matter. “Fire Meets Ice” is an album that shows a variety of influences but mixed in such a way that it became an album that listens not only easily but is also pleasant as it all comes together perfectly. You can simply dream away listening to this album and enjoy it fullest. No need to put a stamp on it.
