Canadian trio Autioviolet makes a mix of Alternative Rock and Electronic Rock. The band comes with a debut album this year which self-titled.
A bit dubious it is, the band kick in the album with some power but then there is vocalist Amy that adds a bit of sugar to the sound. Sometimes making it sound sweet, other times highly dramatic. The words are dealing with themes that are applying to many youngster so there will be an audience that may identify with these tracks.
The songs on the album have sometimes a bit of cheesy edge. Predictable, expectable as if they have chosen an easy way out, some elaboration in it would make it more exciting to listen to. For example, the track “Falling” is one of those tracks that you could draw out completely after 10 seconds listening. Catchy, however, they are and the vocals of Amy give a good balance with the vehemence that the two gentlemen bring into it.
Altogether, the sound that the band creates is one that will find an audience, but the band may have to work on the songwriting to make a huge leap forward with a next release. This debut does not seem to show their fullest potential.
