Darkane is a melodic death / progressive thrash metal band that originated in Helsingborg, Sweden in 1998.Their discography contains six full lengths, the last one “The Sinister Supremacy” is out now.
The previous album dates back to 2008, so the band has taken a while to come with a new album. The band now has a new singer although he is not new to them at all. Lawrence Mackrory has been the band’s vocalist in the early days as well. Those who got used to the voice of Jens Broman are probably having to swallow this a bit. Lawrence has quite his own stamp on the sound. Maybe not the strongest vocalist the band had. He adds a certain rawness into it that somehow matches the sound but leaves a bit bitter taste for those who liked the previous vocalists. Musically Darkane simply gives you what you have expected from them. A strong body, melodics, angry and powerful. Not really something you have not heard before from them, so basically bringing the constant factor into it.
“The Sinister Supremacy” is a good release, but it may take a while before the fans start loving the input of their new vocalist. When you are used to it, you see it works well with the music and is as Darkane as it could be.
