German trio TXL is making so called ‘Deutschrock’ The Berliners just released their new album called “Angst”.
Deutschrock says it all. German lyrics are the main part of the band’s music and as it seems they were a little bit down when writing it. “Trauerregen”. “Ich Habe Angst” and “Abschiedslied” sound pretty doomish and depressive. The music is far from happy either, energy it has though. The band is not holding back on any power. The vocals are whining, going on and on like a little child that tries to get someone’s attention, not truly the best side of this release. After a while you have quite heard it and then it starts to turn against them. Langweilig we would say. Then, the more positive points are to be found at the guitars. There the band wins some terrain. Playful riffs are making it a bit more alive and no matter how hard vocalist Halid is coming through that, these skills can’t be unheard.
If the band would have a more steady backing the music would come out better though. The drums could be more dominant, bring some bass into that and the music would have a bit more attitude and make from this screaming toddler a more mature band.

Halid – Bass, Vocals
