Evangelist is a band from Poland which makes Doom Metal. The band formed in 2008 and in 2011 they came with a debutalbum. Anno 2013 the band returns with “Doominicanes”.
It is stated that the band members of this formation are anonymous. Perhaps a little teaser, but whatever the reason is, the music must still be impressive to get people interesting. After all no one needs to know the identity of someone they don’t care for. The epic Doom of these guys will certainly heat the fires of those curious souls. The band captures melodies and drags these along through the five tracks (almost 45 minutes) on this release. Slowly and full of darkness as it comes you will find yourself listening to a decent mix where drums and guitars are coming out very well but let the vocals come up a little more without allowing them to disappear in a background. Those vocals may be a bit unsteady here and there, but in general are putting a good atmosphere to the sound and when a guitar solo is played the qualities of the band member(s) are highlighted once again.
Evangelist may not want you to know their identity, but the album is giving you enough to hold on to and make you curious about that.
