Spanish formation Scent of Death is founded back in 1998. It took until 2005 for the band to come with a debut full length album and until this year to come with its follow up. But out now is “Of Martyrs’s Agony and Hate”.
Death Metal is what the band is making and then preferably as brutal as they manage to get it. The band has a good package of riffs, that brings you quite a surprise and lift you above the expectations. Furthermore you get blasted all around your ears in dazzling tempo’s making sure you are no time given to drift off. Vocals are adding more to the brutality and have this somewhat mysterious edge onto them which results in the songs getting really into the atmosphere of brutality.
What also works for these guys is that the album they have made is quite diverse. The songs are obviously linked but all have an unique character and that is what makes that “Of Martyrs’s Agony and Hate” sticks out over the many albums that pass in this genre. Safe to say these Spanish guys have created a good release that makes you more curious for them, though it is to hope there won’t be that long gap between this and their upcoming release.
