Žagar is an Electronic band from Hungary. The band is currently releasing their second full length album called “Light Leaks” and managed to get some international attention with it.
Calm, quiet and relaxed it is, these “Light Leaks” from Žagar. The band has a mellow sound on their basis, bringing it come alive during psychedelic trips into their sound, where the band seem to have no trouble getting you along. It listens easily and it is easy to dream off while listening this release. The band varies with their sound but somewhere during the 72 minutes of this release you might get lost. “Lightstones” is a track that could have been skipped as it breaks the atmosphere a bit, but when the album goes on with the dreamy “Toybox On The Shelf” you step right back into their world.
The band are having some great songs on this release but here and there it is maybe hard to stick with them. What is great is that the band likes to tease you, for example in “Odd Moments of Eternity” they keep building to a climax but it never comes to that great outburst which makes you wonder when it will come then. Unfortunately the songs after that are totally different again, so it keeps you a bit unsatisfied. Though the journey was a pleasure.
