Mind Mirror – Wither

Mind Mirror is a Metal formation from Finland. The band is founded in 2008 and they have had some small releases out. Anno 2013 the band comes with the EP “Wither” which is out now.

The band mentioned Sentenced on their info sheet and how they are hinted to be a follow up of that band. The first track, also title track, absolutely hints in that direction. The vocals are the closest point of direction but also the composition leads you there. In the other tracks on the release you won’t lose touch with that, but give you better perspective on the own identity of this band. The band has a bunch of good riffs in the pocket. Maybe here and there it could have been a bit more original, but what is important is that it suits in the song which it does. Yet, it is good to see the guys are breaking away from the bands they mention as inspiration here and there. They seem to be a bit searching for what their place will be but when the band would release a full length they would have more space to create a unity in their songs, a binding factor that shows the stereotypical sound of Mind Mirror.

Altogether the band has brought an EP which gives a good idea of their capabilities. Sentenced is a band with a great status and reputation, Mind Mirror is building it still, but you got to start somewhere. With “Wither” they show a good start, let’s see what they would bring when they have a full length ready.
