Blackmail is a German indie rock band from Koblenz, Germany which was started briefly in 1993. Blackmail are singer Mathias Reetz, brothers Kurt Ebelhäuser (lead guitars) and Carlos Ebelhäuser (bass) and drummer Mario Matthias. Their style of music usually varies, but mainly consists of the indie rock genre which is combined with experimentation of electronic music, progressive rock, alternative rock and dance. It is also known for its harsh and high-pitched guitar melodies. The band just released their new album “II”.
Melody is a major part for Blackmail, that is something that comes out right away. The songs are getting to you quite fast because of the catchiness. Then again, you cannot fail to notice that there some remarkable riffs played. They are giving the music a bit of an original twist where the tracks have something recognizable and their style is perhaps not completely unique. So it is good to see that this is what defines Blackmail. Take for example the track “Shine” where the guitars are simply setting the signature to the track. When looking at this you can safely say the band has taken the direction of previous release “Anima Now” and take it a step further, to progress on that. Surely came out very well, Blackmail may be very pleased with releasing such a stunning album that will find its way to the world easily.
