Nick Hellfort is a solo project formed and led by Tokyo Blade and Domain singer Nicolaj Ruhnow . The first demos were made in 2007 and show a Heavy Metal direction. Anno 2013 a full length album is released: “The Mask Within” is out now.

Nick Hellfort has surely that Heavy Metal base put into this album, but pinning it down to that only would not really do much justice to the sound. There is a dose of Progressive into it, some Jazz and some Melodic Rock as well. Gives a bit diversity.
While listening to the release it brings the vocals to the first point of attention, they are done quite well, moderate and various, which makes that you can enjoy a good range and it won’t get boring. Guitars are bringing a good addition to the voice. The complement each other well and surely strengthen it. The other instruments are far from domination, sometimes you would have hoped they would pop out a bit more to make the sound more intense. Yet, the whole is pleasant to listen to.

“The Mask Within” shows the qualities of Nick Hellfort quite well. A rocker with a passion for his music and has no fright to mix into the sound whatever he feels like should be there and in the end it works out very well.
