Psychopunch – Smakk Valley

Releasedate: 25-02-2013; Label: Steamhammer/SPV
By: Milla Smile

The fifteen years old Swedish punk formation released the anniversary tenth album “Smakk Valley” in February of 2013 via “Steamhammer/SPV”.

If you wanna hear the purest and rawest punk you’re on the right way. Fourteen tracks faster than speed of light start with “Back of my car” which leaves no doubts about what you have been heard of. “Kick in the head” presents you power of fists. The specific ballad “Sitting by the railroad” is wide as road to nowhere. “I will never ever” about insane being lyrics provides great combination of toughness and roughness. All the tracks include three chords melody and back vocals which not in unison. But this dissonance is nothing but… huh, punk. “Everybody wants an aswer” is not exception. Some country motif, open guitars Drums staccato according by teasing guitars in “Smakk Valley train” is brilliant example of punk in the way it would be. As it sings “sorry for every fail” but there is not even single failure.

Despite that fact punk times are gone, it’s pretty cool that band came back with such a masterpiece. So move ahead, don’t stop.
