How To Destroy Angels – Welcome Oblivion

Releasedate: 15-03-2013; Label: Columbia Records / Sony
By: Nina Mende

Trent Reznor has a new project. “How To Destroy Angels” is the name of this new baby. Three years after the founding of How To Destroy Angels they finally released an album called “Welcome Oblivion”.

The album comes with thirteen tracks. The songs are floating in the background if you don’t give it your fullest attention. It is not suppressing or annoying in any way. “Welcome Oblivion” floats along easily with whatever you are doing. The music is absolutely fascinating and takes you in control in its very own way. The female vocalist guides you the way through your mind. An electronic intro puts you in the right trance for this, even if it doesn’t feel like it. How To Destroy Angels is a very interesting project. One like no other. Soft and hypnotic, catchy and thoughtful. This music causes images in your head. The sound is somehow creepy yet comforting. How To Destroy Angels is odd. But you are unable to stop the music. A strange project yet genius. Just like we know it from Trent Reznor. Funky. Strange. Alien. And definitely hard to describe. If you like Nine Inch Nails, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, you should definitely check it out. How To Destroy Angels’ album “Welcome Oblivion” is out now.
