Releasedate: 2012
By: Thorsten Hendriks
This band has been in existence since 2002, mainly in the underground scene. They released their debut album ‘Funeral Party Budapest’ only in 2007 followed by their second album “Valaki ma este megsérülhet” (Someone May Get Hurt Tonight) in 2009. This band who play disco-electro-punk, new wave and garage rock have been playing festivals in Europe since.
Very suprising 3rd album, despite 8 of 10 songs being in Hungarian. Very clever use of vocals, synthesizers and guitars give this album a rock feel. ‘Lick my pain’ is quite heavy compared to the other songs on the album and definitely my favourite! Five of the songs have a similar feel to it and sound exactly what you would expect from a Electronic-New Wave band. Two songs (‘Horror Deluxe’ and ‘Reset’) have a bit of a ballad feel to it, but fit within the whole concept of the album. ‘Ragadozó’ and ‘Haiku’ have a groovy rocky rythm and compliments the whole package. Slick guitars and a wall of electronic synthesizer effects make this a very special, non-conformist album which will stand out amongst its peers. Only ‘Out of Order and ‘Reset’ are sung in English, if this promising Hungarian band wants to breakthtrough in Europe (and beyond) they will have to make their lyrics more accessible to the wider public and sing in English. Their sound is very upbeat and easy on the ear; groovy rock laced with guitar riffs and unusual electronic samples.
