The metal band “Valonkantajat” from Uusimaa (Finland) released their debut album “Tuomittu Elämään” this fall.
Honestly, when you see the Finnish metal newbie (to be correct, when you see the name and album’s title written in Finnish) you already expect something. This time it wasn’t exception. Ten tracks and forty minutes of the wide chords and mournful voice.
The band name means nothing but “Lucifers”. Well, they don’t look as much infernal as it sounds. The only infernal and scared part, perhaps, was the hound howling in the opening track. To be honest, I’d like to see the difference between any Finnish metal bands. But no, it’s possible to close your eyes, turn on the sound and enjoy faceless and nameless music industry. The music with anguished voice sings about all the sorrows, live and love. The equipment includes two guitars, bass and drums where the lion’s share of work belongs to guitars. Time for point some more impressive tracks. The first of two is “Tuomittu elämään” which not only opening track but perfect introducing everything. A band’s style if you want. The next track in the line is “Paha ei saa palkkaansa”. Perhaps, the most dynamic and interesting track on the entire album.
So, the album is much suitable for true fans of Finnish metal. Moshers, horns up!
