Rick Springfield is well-known American-citizen songwriter, actor, producer, whoever with the 30-years carrier. This time he released something like the script for the (possible) end of the world or it seems so at least.
The first of all, check the official site of songwriter because you can find warning about (outer space) invaders, the sign board “invaders detected” and info about four (!) versions of the new album. We review “coldwar” version which available for Europe. The cover art written in semi Latin and semi Cyrillic fonts with letters like “Я” (“ya”) and “Щ” (“tsch”).
The thing is, music is such easy and sweet. Not the best choice for the end of the world. But who really cares, even the lyrics about love (the most powerful thing ever?). So keep your eyes at several tracks. The killer opener “Wide awake” for instance. The slap-in–the-face riffs wakes you up as wide as possible and tough lyrics give you a hope for the happy bright future with everyone is friendly open to you. Next track to think about is “Depravity”. Yeah, this is one of the possible things to get the world down. Me and my depravity. The track “My last heartbeat” with noise in the beginning and chorus “heal my broken soul” sounds like scream for the eternity. And two track to finish this review in positive way. There are “I hate myself” and “Love screws me up”. Doesn’t matter what titles seem the eternal problems worked out in such optimistic manner of expression. What a typical 80’s chorus “love screws me up na na na” you can sing as anthem.
We have 12 tracks to celebrate the end of the world. The question is, when it all happens?
