Dutch soul lady Imelda is an artist which draws influences from all different sorts of music. Anno 2012 she comes with her debut EP called: “Authentic”.
With the cover showing of a rock chick and the voice of a soul princess Imelda is bringing a varied range of where she comes from. Each track brings a bit of a different dimension to her sound. Trying to find the red thread in it all it comes quickly to the point of the personal tracks that are on this EP are all showing a powerful woman that has nothing holding her back to say what she feels like. With tracks like “Morningbird” and “I Got a Man” there are some tracks that easily come to you while the first tracks are some that you listen to a bit more carefully. A warm and yet powerful voice with only slightly instrumental backing when needed, but the words are there to make the largest impression. A bit of a pity is that this is only an EP with four tracks. As soon as you are all into it, it is already at its end. Too bad, but it is a promise for more, “Authentic” is what the title promises.
