Skunk Anansie – Black Traffic

Releasedate: 17-09-2012; Label: V2
By: Nina Mende

Skunk Anansie formed in March 1994, disbanded in 2001 and reformed in 2009. The name “Skunk Anansie” is taken from the West African folk tales of Anansi the spider-man, with “Skunk” added to “make the name nastier”.

They are often grouped as part of a Britrock movement, running alongside Britpop. Now they have released their sixth studio album called “Black Traffic”. Coming with eleven tracks this album blows your mind. Kick ass music with the powerful voice of the female singer. “Black Traffic” is a motivating and energizing album, pushing adrenaline through your veins and encouraging you. This album is carrying a certain strength that is hard to describe. Impressive from the very first second until the very last. The deep lyrics will go straight underneath your skin and to your heart. Never to leave again. “Black Traffic” starts out with the kick ass rock songs before the slow ballads unveil the heart and love this album carries, along with strength, courage, and maybe a little bit of anger. A wonderful emotional album with heart and soul. Pushing and thriving. Music that is hard to sit still to while listening. Skunk Anansie is back again. Get “Black Traffic” now and feel the rush. Definitely one of the best albums this year!
