Tiamat is metal formation from Sweden which has been active since 1989. The band lways remained active but always leaving a couple years between their full length releases. The last one dates back to 2008 but this year the band presents their tenth studio release “The Scarred People”.
The band Tiamat have tried several styles through the years but always you could relate back to them, partly because the band has a very steady line up. Also with this album you feel the touch with the band’s previous work but you know there is some new edge to it as well. What speaks for the band is that you never get the feeling that they went to search for a certain mood, but it feels like it comes easily from the heart, honest as it is. That results in an album that sounds personal. There are some tracks that many may relate too. In the track “Messinian Letter” the band speaks the world “you are my only friend” which may come close to those going through hard times, but on the other side it is not all depressive what comes from the guys. Some positive edge may be found into it and while the band serves you with diversity, you must realize that it is not an album that will come as love at first sight. Give the album some more spins because it grows on you and while really digging into the sounds and the lyrics you find yourself hooked. Tiamat scores again, inevitably!
