Riverboat Gamblers is punk formation from USA. The band released the second thing called “The wolf you feed” this fall.
If you wanna hear music came from guts not as result of combining ones and zeros you head in the right direction. Technically you couldn’t hear the wide and solid guitar solos, only raw riffs instead. But, honestly, when punk has it? Never! So shut up and enjoy easy punk with elements of garage.
Now pay all your attention to the album from track to track. The short fast-riffs opener “Good veins” brought the vibes of 60’s era. Then track suddenly turn into more emotional “Bite my tongue”. I must mention the vocalist’s ability of acting in almost lazy but hysterical manner of singing with up and down intonations that you can hear in “Comedians”. The next track can blow your mind. Bluesy motif in “Gallow’s bird” doubled by piano arpeggios and chords and ended with “beep” signal. Touching track “Blue ghosts” could be associated with 90’s alternative rock samples as another rather slow track “Dead Eyes” – with Mick Jagger accompanied by percussion. And the last mentioned track “Eviction notice” is 100% proof that punk not dead.
Resuming everything, the band has talent to singing about not so funny thing in such a funny manner. Also ten points go to the backing vocals for all the screaming, howling and hissing “ugh-agh-oh-hey”.
